1st - 24th of December 2024
In life, you will sometimes experience success. Your ego might mistakenly believe this success means your worth as a human-being increases. At other times, you will face failure. Your ego might convince you that this means your value as a human-being decreases.
Neither of these is true. Both are simply the ego’s love of comparing, competing, and judging.
Welcome to this year’s Christmas Calendar, where we’ll explore the ego—a key aspect of who we are.
When balanced, the ego helps us maintain a healthy sense of self without getting too wrapped up in our own importance. But when out of balance, whether inflated or deflated, the ego shapes our thoughts, emotions, and actions in ways that may not serve us.
This calendar is my humble attempt, as one person, to gently spark a movement that may help raise awareness of the ego and guide us toward a more balanced sense of self. We all have to start somewhere, and perhaps this is where it begins for you.
From human-doings to human-beings
The ego ties us to the need for doing, measuring our worth by achievements, tasks, and external recognition. We become "human doings," constantly striving to prove ourselves through action. But true fulfillment lies in simply being—embracing presence, inner peace, and self-acceptance without the need to constantly perform.
When we shift from "human doing" to "human being," we free ourselves from the ego's constant demands, allowing us to live more authentically and with greater ease.
Sounds simple, right? Well… it might be. Simple, however, doesn’t always mean easy. But we will kindly try our best.
When you're able to see beyond the Ego — even if only for a moment — you be stunned with the peaceful, authentic experience which lies behind it
What You Can Expect:
This calendar features mini-podcast lectures, meditation sessions, and yoga practices to support and guide us on our journey.
Understand the Ego: Learn how the ego manifests in your life and influences your thoughts and actions. (Ever get frustrated when someone cuts in line? That’s your ego saying, “I should be first!”)
Create a Healthier Relationship with Your Ego: Discover how to quiet the ego, bringing more peace, emotional balance, and clarity into your life—without resisting it. We’ll also explore how emotions like envy and jealousy stem from the ego’s natural tendency to compare. When the ego feels threatened or inadequate, these emotions arise. By recognizing them as products of the ego, you'll learn how to release them, paving the way for lasting inner peace.
Experience Greater Happiness: Loosen the ego’s grip to find more joy, reduce stress, and form deeper, more authentic connections with others.
The Practical Part:
When:
Starts December 1st (Sunday) – finishes December 24th (Tuesday)
What:
AUDIO: Every day, you’ll receive an email with a link to an audio file containing your daily practice. Each day includes a guided meditation, and about every other day, the audio will also feature a mini-podcast. These podcasts will offer background knowledge, real-life examples, and food for thought to help you deepen your understanding of the ego, allowing you to recognize it more and more within yourself and others.
VIDEO: On the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Sundays of Advent, I’ll send you a link to a YouTube video featuring a yoga practice (suitable for all levels), specially created for this program. This will help you integrate the work not only into your mind (through meditation) but also into your body (through movement).
For Whom:
If you’re alive, this program is for you. No special talent or prior experience is needed—just an open mind and a willingness to do the work.
How Do I Get the Audio Files?:
You’ll receive an email before 6 AM each day with a link to download the files via WeTransfer.
Additionally, I’ll set up a WhatsApp group where I’ll share the daily content, typically the evening before. For example, the content for December 5th will be sent on the evening of December 4th.
Do I Get to Keep the Audio Files?:
Yes, the audio files are yours to keep forever.
Daily Time Commitment:
The audio files will never exceed 20 minutes. Typically, your daily practice time will be around 15 minutes, give or take. It’s perfect for a train ride, lunch break, early morning meditation, or whenever works best for you. This small time investment will be well worth it. Remember, your mind will likely offer plenty of excuses for why you “don’t have time” on certain days... but trust me, you can make the time. I’ll be your cheerleader all the way.
Language:
The program is guided in English.
Cost: 69 CHF
